What the Caregiver Needs to Know - Eat Wisely
Please note that links to additional materials can be found in the text and at the bottom of this page.
A caregiver is someone that takes responsibility for the care and wellness of another person or plays a role in certain parts of the care required for someone. You may be a relative, significant other, neighbor, or friend. Whatever the role, it is very important for the caregiver to understand basic care needs. The support of a caregiver can enhance quality of life. Managing or assisting with meal planning and preparation, exercise and healthy lifestyle changes are just a few of the steps on the journey to staying well. The more you know as a caregiver, the better able you will be to provide care.
Remember when caring for another person, it is important to take care of yourself too! Seek assistance from others when necessary and be aware of your own limitations.

In addition, you can check your local area for a community center, park, recreation center, VA medical center, YMCA, health club, mall walking group or church group that you may join to find meal preparation classes and/or physical activities that are of interest to you.
