New VA sign in (Option 1)

Here's what you need to know:

Use your existing account (Login.gov, ID.me, DS Logon, or My HealtheVet) to sign in.

  • If you don't have one, you can create a Login.gov or ID.me account. You'll have to give an email address that doesn't belong to someone else, like your spouse.

Signing in with Login.gov

Signing in with ID.me

  • ID.me is an account that is created and commercially owned. ID.me is a contracted, trusted Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) partner that meets the new federal security standards in the executive order to improve the nation's cybersecurity.

  • Use your existing ID.me email address and password to sign in.

  • ID.me requires multifactor authentication at every sign in. Choose your preferred method. A phone is not required. At every sign in, use your already chosen multifactor authentication method or a different one.

  • Not all multifactor authentication methods offered by ID.me are available to use at the VA.

  • ID.me offers VA users online identity verification. Learn more about the types of identity verification offered.

  • ID.me doesn't use identity verification information and multifactor authentication information that may have been shared with Login.gov.

  • ID.me supports multifactor authentication for My HealtheVet and DS Logon with the new sign in. This doesn't require an ID.me account or a username and password.

  • ID.me Member Support will help you if you need assistance with multifactor authentication, verifying your identity using your phone number, or if you live outside the United States.

Signing in with DS Logon

  • DS Logon is created, owned and managed by the Department of Defense. Currently, DS Logon doesn't meet all the new federal security standards in the executive order to improve the nation's cybersecurity.

  • The first time you sign in using your DS Logon account, you'll land on the 'connect your account' page. You'll need to enter your email address and confirm access to it before signing in. You'll have to give an email address that doesn't belong to someone else, like your spouse.

  • ID.me offers multifactor authentication for DS Logon accounts only on the new VA Sign in page. DS Logon on Option 3 will not use ID.me multifactor authentication.

  • Signing in with DS Logon doesn't require multifactor authentication. If you set up multifactor authentication, it must be used at every sign in. Choose your preferred method. A phone is not required. At every sign in, use your already chosen multifactor authentication method or a different one.

  • If you need assistance call the DMDC Support Office at 800-538-9552

  • ID.me offers multifactor authentication and online identity verification for My HealtheVet on the new VA Sign in page. If you are a VA patient, you can still go to your local VA to verify your identity in person.

  • Signing in with My HealtheVet doesn't require multifactor authentication to be used. If you set up multifactor authentication, it must be used at every sign in. Choose your preferred method.
