Learn More About MHV Pharmacy Features

You can manage medications using the online VA Prescription tools on My HealtheVet.

The My HealtheVet Pharmacy modules may not match the medication list that is received after your VA clinical visit. This is because My HealtheVet is currently a refill request module and excludes some medications and prescriptions.

My HealtheVet does NOT show:

  1. medications, prescriptions and/or supplements your VA health care team entered into the non-VA medications list in your VA Medical Record

  2. medications that are/were administrated in a clinic or Emergency Department (such as clinic medications)

If you cannot view prescription(s) that should be displayed, contact your local VA pharmacy for information. The phone number for the VA Pharmacy can be found on the prescription label.

There are six (6) features available in the My HealtheVet Pharmacy section:

Refill VA Prescriptions (Rx Refill)

VA Prescription History

Self-Entered Medications + Supplements

My Medications List

VA Medications List

VA Prescription Tracking

Refill VA Prescriptions (Rx Refill) - for users registered as a VA patient with an Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

Your current prescriptions filled by a VA Pharmacy are displayed in this section. You are able to refill most of your active VA prescriptions online. An exception to this are controlled narcotics (such as fentanyl, which is used for pain). In addition, this section does NOT display VA prescriptions that:

  • have no remaining refills

  • have expired

  • have been discontinued

  • are/ were administered in a clinic or emergency department

  • have been placed On Hold by the pharmacy or your provider

  • have new prescription orders that have not yet been processed by the pharmacy (Pending status)

If you believe you have refillable prescriptions that are not displayed, please contact the pharmacy staff at the VA facility that prescribed your medicines. The phone number is on the label of your prescription bottle.

Your prescription refills are dispensed and delivered to you by a VA Mail Order Pharmacy. The VA Mail Order Pharmacy ships to all addresses in the United States and its territories, but not to any foreign countries.

NOTE: Your medicines are delivered to your address in your official VA record. Your medicines are NOT delivered to the address on My HealtheVet if different than your official address on file. If you need to change your address in your official VA record, that change must be made at your local VA facility. My HealtheVet does not change addresses in your official VA record.

A new or immediate need prescription may be picked up at the pharmacy window of your local VA facility. Call your VA Pharmacy to pick up your VA prescription.

VA Prescription History - for users registered as a VA patient with an Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

In addition to controlled narcotics, this section does NOT show:

  • new prescriptions that have not yet been filled by the pharmacy

  • medicines that are/ were administered in a clinic or emergency department

If you cannot view prescription(s) that should be displayed, contact your local VA Pharmacy for information.

Self-Entered Medications + Supplements - for any registered user with a Basic, Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

This section is a blended view of all medications (including over-the-counter), prescriptions and supplements that YOU self-entered in your medication journal, as well as VA prescriptions in your medical record at any VA Medical Center.

NOTE: Your health care team CANNOT view this list. If you would like to share it with your VA health care team, you must print this list and bring it to your next clinic visit.

My Medications List - for any registered user with a Basic, Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

This list displays both:

  • for Advanced or Premium account holders, VA-issued prescriptions in your electronic health record at VA Medical Centers; and

  • medications, prescriptions and supplements YOU entered in your My HealtheVet self-entered Medications List.

NOTE: Your VA health care team CANNOT view this list. If you would like to share it with your VA health care team, print this list and bring to your next clinic visit.

VA Medications List - for users registered as a VA patient with an Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

This list displays both:

  • medications, prescriptions and supplements in your My HealtheVet self-entered Medication List

  • VA-issued medications, prescriptions and supplements in your records at VA Medical Centers

This section does NOT show:

  • new prescriptions that have not yet been filled by the pharmacy

  • medicines that are/ were administered in a clinic or emergency department

VA Prescription Tracking - for users registered as a VA patient with an Advanced or Premium My HealtheVet account.

This page shows your VA prescription packages the VA Mail Order Pharmacy filled and mailed in the last 30 days. Tracking information is available a day or two after your refills are mailed from the VA Mail Order Pharmacy.

This section does NOT display packages mailed from a local VA pharmacy (such as some controlled substances and items that have special shipping requirements).

If you do not receive your package, first contact the delivery service that is delivering your package. Their contact information and/or phone number is on their website.

If they are not able to help, contact the VA facility where you got the prescription. The phone number for the VA Pharmacy can be found on the prescription label. Those issues are resolved by your VA Pharmacy in coordination with the VA Mail Order Pharmacy.

You can sign up to receive VA Rx shipment notifications on your My Profile page.
