Upgrade Your My HealtheVet Account to Premium Status

Wondering why you should consider upgrading to a Premium My HealtheVet account? A Premium account gives My HealtheVet members the highest level of access to My HealtheVet features.

My HealtheVet offers three account types: Basic, Advanced and Premium. Anyone registering on My HealtheVet starts with a Basic or Advanced account. A Basic account provides access to medical libraries and allows you to enter personal data into journals and other tools to track your health measures.

When you register and select Veteran, VA Patient on the registration form, your profile information is linked to VA/DoD records. When this happens, your account is automatically upgraded to the Advanced level.

An Advanced account offers you a higher level of access than the Basic account to My HealtheVet features including:

A Premium account includes all the features of a Basic and Advanced account, plus these services:

The VA Blue Button is a feature available to all My HealtheVet members. Access to VA Blue Button reports is based on your account level.

Upgrading Your My HealtheVet Advanced Account to Premium Using DS Logon Premium Account

To upgrade a My HealtheVet account to Premium status, you will need to:

  • Be a VA patient and have an active My HealtheVet Advanced account

  • Accept the current My HealtheVet Terms and Conditions

  • Provide a primary government-issued photo ID

  • Provide a secondary form of ID when your primary ID does not match your official VA medical record (such as a recent name change)

There are two ways to upgrade your My HealtheVet Advanced account to Premium. You can upgrade your My HealtheVet Advanced account online (DS Logon Premium Account and ID.me) or in-person (face-to-face and video conference) at a local VA facility:

Upgrading Your My HealtheVet Advanced Account to Premium Using a Sign-in Partner

To upgrade your account using a Sign-in Partner (DS Logon Premium Account and ID.me), follow these steps:

  1. From the My HealtheVet login page, log in to your Advanced My HealtheVet account using a Sign-in Partner

  2. Select the Upgrade Now button

  3. Check the certification box to verify you are the owner of the My HealtheVet account

  4. Select Continue

  5. Check the Accept My HealtheVet Terms & Conditions box

  6. Select Continue

After selecting Continue, your My HealtheVet Advanced account will upgrade to a Premium account.

Upgrading Your My HealtheVet Advanced Account to Premium at a VA Facility

When upgrading your Advanced account to Premium status at a VA facility, you must have accepted the current My HealtheVet Terms & Conditions and present a valid, current government-issued photo ID to a My HealtheVet Coordinator or another authorized staff member. After completing the in-person identity verification process, your My HealtheVet Advanced account will upgrade to Premium status.
