In the Spotlight
My HealtheVet's Pharmacy feature is now open to Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) beneficiaries. Current CHAMPVA beneficiaries eligible for VA's Meds by Mail program can use My HealtheVet's Pharmacy to review, refill, and track their prescriptions online.
This new capability helps CHAMPVA beneficiaries to be active partners in their health care. Tracey Martin is a caregiver to her mother, a CHAMPVA beneficiary, who is currently utilizing the Meds by Mail program. She is looking forward to her mother having access to My HealtheVet's Pharmacy feature to help her mother manage her care.
"My mother had a stroke in 2012 and she is now prescribed multiple medications that we need to keep track of," Tracey said. "This feature will make it much more convenient and help us better track her medications."
Martin says her mother now requires assistance with tasks she used to perform independently. Although her mother may need some assistance, Tracey feels this new feature will help her mother regain some of her independence.
"Even if she can't complete the prescription refill herself, having my mother be a part of the process is great," Tracey said. "She will be able to visualize and take part in her health care."
Refill or Track Your VA Prescriptions
When registering for a My HealtheVet account, CHAMPVA beneficiaries should select CHAMPVA Beneficiary or/and VA Patient or/and Veteran on either the Registration page or
the Personal Profile page. Once verified by the My HealtheVet system, you will be given an Advanced account. You may identify yourself as CHAMPVA Beneficiary, VA Patient or Veteran in any combination (i.e., all three, one of these, or any combination thereof).
When you log in to My HealtheVet using your Advanced or Premium account, you can manage your VA prescription refills online. Prescription tracking is available a day or two after refills are mailed from the VA Mail Order Pharmacy.
