HUD, VA to Provide Permanent Housing, Case Management to Nearly 700 Homeless Veterans

U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki announced today that HUD will provide $5.4 million to public housing authorities in 18 states to supply permanent housing and case management for 676 homeless Veterans in America. (6/13/11)

VA to Expand Housing for Homeless Veterans and Their Families

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) continues to develop housing opportunities for homeless and at-risk Veterans by adding 34 VA locations across the country. This strategy will increase the Department's available beds by over 5,000. VA currently has 15,000 transitional beds available to homeless Veterans. (6/8/11)

Muro Sworn In as Under Secretary for VA's Memorial Affairs

Steve L. Muro, a Vietnam Veteran with leadership experience at every level within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemetery Administration, has been sworn in as Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs. Retired Brig. Gen. Allison A. Veterans Descend on Honolulu to Compete in the National Veterans Golden Age Games

For 25 years, military Veterans age 55 and older have come to the National Veterans Golden Age Games to compete and demonstrate the warrior spirit never fades. This year, the competition will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, May 26 – 31. More than 900 Veterans from across the country will compete in 14 different categories for medals. (5/25/11)
